Be My Wife

Nash Point Lighthouse in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales is a place very close to my heart.
Six years ago today I was married there.
The lighthouse is the only Trinity House Lighthouse where wedding ceremonies can take place.
Having got engaged in a lighthouse (at South Stack in Anglesey) there was only one type of venue we were going to get married in. And although I did take some persuading to go and see Nash Point as a possible venue, when we both saw it we knew we'd found the ideal location.

The lighthouse is situated in the Glamorgan Heritage Coastline area approximately one mile from the small village of Marcross, and three miles west of Llantwit Major. The Wales Coast Path, which runs the entire length of the Welsh coast, passes through the grounds of the Lighthouse and takes in the incredible rock formations seen from the beach below the lighthouse.
Marcross hosts the welcoming Horseshoe Inn which serves hearty Sunday roasts, perfect after a coastal walk, and where we ate after the wedding.
Llantwit Major is larger and has several excellent options of places to stay, eat and drink. A short drive away is the market town of Cowbridge, bigger again and a great place to pick up an unusual antique.

There are two lighthouse cottages available to rent and we made one of these our base for the wedding. The weddings are held on the 3rd and 4th floors of the lighthouse and can accommodate only 25 guests so it's a very intimate affair.
The lighthouse staff are amazing, they even sounded the fog horn for us as part of our celebrations.
We had access to the lighthouse all day of the wedding. And whilst we had champagne and nibbles over two floors in the lighthouse, the weather was so fantastic we soon moved to the gardens adjoining the holiday cottages for a picnic in the sunshine. Unheard of for October!
It was our perfect day by the ocean.x
