It starts and ends with you
Back in 2011 a very kind artist friend of ours made this wonderful wooden wall hanging.
It's hung in pride of place over our staircase ever since.
He decided to make the hanging from a photograph of a rather colorful lighthouse he'd chanced across in a book of lighthouses, there being no obvious reason for choosing it other than it was an interesting shape.
It turns out it's West Point Lighthouse in Nova Scotia, Canada.
And we had to see it at some point......
So six years later we are heading across the Atlantic for our first trip to Canada, in the year it celebrates it's 150th birthday no less - Yes, I know some of you have houses older than that, but hey, they had to start somewhere.
It's going to be a very busy few weeks with a lot of miles to cover - Planes, trains, automobiles, bicycles and boats, in that order. But I'm hoping to post a few notes and photos during our travels.
Obviously there's a lot of lighthouses on the agenda, as well as some of the usual touristy things.
No gigs planned as yet....we didn't fancy Coldplay(!) and miss Arcade Fire by a few days, but we'll keep a lookout for anything interesting.
We're heading for huge cities and tiny islands, but first stop, a big island and a tiny city....it's back to (my favourite) Reykjavik, but unfortunately only for a few hours in the airport.

Always wanted to go to Reykjavik. Have fun in Canada.
